Quick Pickled Red Onions

These Quick Pickled Red Onions are easy to make and only require 5 ingredients. Add to tacos, salads, sandwiches or any dish that you want to add a pop of flavour to!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vinegar (I prefer a combination of apple cider vinegar and white vinegar)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • Optional: black peppercorns, garlic, sliced jalapeno, bay leaves

Instructions
 

  • Add the water, vinegar, maple syrup and sea salt to a small pot and bring to a simmer. Remove from the heat and stir in any of the optional add-ins if desired.
  • Add the red onion to a clean jar and pour the hot liquid over top. Push the onions down so they are submerged.
  • Allow to sit for at least 30 minutes before using. They will get even better the longer they sit!
  • Serve immediately or cover and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
