This cacao maca latte is the perfect comforting and nourishing drink that can give you a natural energy boost, without the caffeine!

As soon as the colder months hit, I want nothing more than a warm beverage in my hands at all times. I also find that there’s something about having a yummy beverage while I work that makes me feel more productive and ready to focus. Anyone else?

I stared making this maca latte as another way to support my hormones, but it’s actually become one of my favourite cozy drinks to make at home. It’s perfect for when you’re craving something rich, creamy and a little sweet, especially in the afternoon when you need a little pick me up. Not to mention it’s filled with nourishing ingredients. 

Maca latte Ingredients:

  • Maca: an adaptogenic herb that can help regulate the body’s response to stress, supports energy levels, and support adrenal and hormone function. It’s also known to even boost libido! Maca has a slightly nutty, butterscotch flavour that tastes amazing paired with the cacao and cinnamon in this drink. If you are new to maca, start with a small amount and work your way up. 
  • Dandy Blend: if you’re unfamiliar with Dandy Blend, it’s a caffeine-free herbal beverage that contains ingredients like dandelion root, chicory root, barley extract and rye extract (although it is gluten-free because of the extraction processing it goes through!). I often recommend it to someone trying to remove coffee from their diet, since it does have a rich flavour and a similar taste to coffee. Dandelion root can be a great way to support hormone health because of its ability to support liver function. Our liver plays an important role in estrogen detoxification – an important aspect of regulating hormones. It also gives the latte a richer flavour, similar to coffee.
  • Cacao: cacao is rich in magnesium and antioxidants that can support hormones and supports neurotransmitter production that boosts mood. 

Cacao Maca Latte

This maca latte is a comforting and nourishing drink that can give you a natural energy boost, without the caffeine!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/2 cup full-fat coconut milk

  • 1 tsp maca powder

  • 1 tbsp Dandy Blend Coffee Alternative

  • 1/2 tbsp cacao powder

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch sea salt

  • 1/2 tbsp almond butter (optional)

  • Scoop collagen peptides

  • Raw honey to taste (I use 1/2 tsp)

Directions

  • Whisk all the ingredients, except the honey and collagen, in a small pot and heat gently on the stove.
  • Pour into a blender with the collagen and honey and blend until frothy. Enjoy!
